May 6, 2025 – <\/b>At WPDI, we believe that Information and Communication Technology<\/a> (ICT) is a cornerstone for peacebuilding and sustainable development. By equipping individuals with digital skills, we\u2019re not only opening doors to better education and employment opportunities\u2014we\u2019re also fostering self-reliance, social inclusion, and economic resilience. In communities impacted by violence or instability, access to IT training can be the catalyst for positive change, offering young people and families the tools to build peaceful and prosperous futures.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"WPDI<\/p>\n

In this vein, WPDI Tijuana recently celebrated two significant milestones in its commitment to empowering youth and families through digital education. Twelve trainees completed their Basic Excel Training, proudly presenting their final exams and receiving certificates of conclusion. The graduation ceremony was marked by speeches from the program manager and coordinator, who expressed deep pride in the group\u2019s achievements. Special thanks were also extended to the trainer, a WPDI Youth Peacemaker, whose dedication and adaptability transformed the broader ICT curriculum into a focused and highly effective Excel course.<\/span><\/p>\n

Graduates shared that they now feel more confident in their ability to complete school assignments and navigate technology with ease. Among the most touching moments was the story of a mother-daughter duo, who explained how their new skills had significantly improved their performance at work and school.<\/span><\/p>\n

One participant, Maximo Giovani Lopez, shared: <\/span>\u201cComing to this Community Center with my mom was intimidating, but now I feel so happy I finalized this training. I learned about formulas and cells and feel very happy with this powerful tool. We want to come back\u2014thank you!\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\"WPDI<\/p>\n

The second important event was the graduation of 25 trainees who participated in the Canva Online Training Group. Participants showcased their final projects\u2014including invitations, posters, and social media content\u2014to an enthusiastic and supportive audience. The feedback from the local community, participants and coordinators has been very positive, which played a vital role in keeping the group engaged and inspired.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aida Zurita, a first-generation Youth Peacemaker for WPDI Tijuana, shared her full-circle journey: <\/span>\u201cComing back to continue learning feels so meaningful. I am now a teacher, and Canva is a very useful tool for my classes. My materials are prettier and help me deliver the information much better. Thank you Jorge for your hard work and motivation. Thank you to my WPDI family!\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Another graduate, Esmeralda, added: <\/span>\u201cI feel like my posters look much better and my social media skills have improved greatly. Thank you for this free course\u2014I can’t believe such initiatives exist. I am now a proud member of the WPDI family in Tijuana.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

These graduations are more than just ceremonies\u2014they are powerful community-building moments that serve as reminders of how access to education and community support can transform lives. Congratulations to all our graduates, and thank you to the trainers, staff, and families who made these moments possible.<\/span><\/p>\n
