November 6, 2025<\/strong> – In Northern Uganda, WPDI successfully concluded a six-month training in <\/span>Conflict Resolution Education and Human Rights<\/b> at the <\/span>Gulu City Community Learning Center<\/b>, equipping <\/span>131 young men and women<\/b> from diverse backgrounds with the tools to promote peace, equality, and sustainable community development.<\/span><\/p>\n

The program combined practical skills in mediation, dialogue, and human rights advocacy. Participants not only gained skills but also grew a deep commitment to managing conflicts peacefully, championing inclusion, and upholding others’ rights, all while fostering understanding within their communities. Upon completion, all 131 trainees received certificates recognizing their commitment to becoming local peacebuilders and human rights advocates.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

From Training to Transformation
\n<\/b>Many graduates shared powerful reflections on how the training has changed their lives and communities. For instance, some have successfully mediated family disputes, and others have initiated community dialogues to address local issues.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>After completing the three-month training, I gained valuable knowledge and skills that have positively transformed my life. I was able to successfully mediate a conflict between my friend and her husband, which helped restore their relationship.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cThe training empowered me with practical conflict resolution skills. I now resolve disputes effectively, help friends restore harmony, and actively champion peace and inclusiveness, creating stronger, more united relationships in my community.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

A Growing Network of Peace Advocates
\n<\/b>Through this initiative, WPDI continues to build and support an ongoing network of youth leaders across the Acholi Sub-Region who are committed to advancing peace and protecting human rights. By equipping young people with these critical skills, WPDI strengthens communities from within, ensuring that peace, justice, and equality are not abstract ideals but daily practices lived out in homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods.<\/span><\/p>\n

This latest graduation in Gulu City stands as a testament to the transformative power of education and to the belief that when young people are empowered, entire communities can heal, rebuild, and thrive.<\/span><\/p>\n
