He participated in a series of meetings and events mostly focused on the UN 2030 Agenda and its seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since their adoption by all the leaders of the world in 2015, Forest has been a prominent <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unsdgadvocates.org\/forest-whitaker\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">advocate of the UN Global Goals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to make the future a better place for all of humanity, as he explained in his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpdi.org\/news\/half-time\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">blog<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on International Day of Peace and this trip was an opportunity to meet important figures in the global efforts to tackle the various challenges facing humanity today. Forest\u2019s visit took place in the framework of the global effort\u00a0 to put the SDG agenda back on track. Mohammed, and other prominent SDG advocates such as Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Richard Curtis, Eddie Ndopu, Hindou Ibrahim, Hamdi Ulukaya, Dia Mirza, Jeffrey Sachs, Valentina Munoz Rabanal, and Brad Smith. Following this high-level meeting, PM of Barbados and SDG Advocate Mia Mottley officially <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ForestWhitaker\/status\/1703773810158092499\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">inaugurated the new SDG Pavilion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet tw-align-center\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" style=\"text-align: center;\">Inaugurating a new space dedicated to the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SDGs?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#SDGs<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UN?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@UN<\/a>: the SDG Pavilion! As <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/miaamormottley?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@miaamormottley<\/a> said, the world needs to pause, heal and love. We have a 15-year agenda for that, with 17 Sustainable Development Goals to achieve, and we&rsquo;re already halftime &#8211; let&rsquo;s accelerate! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tA5hUVFGpk\">pic.twitter.com\/tA5hUVFGpk<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u2014 Forest Whitaker (@ForestWhitaker) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ForestWhitaker\/status\/1703773810158092499?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 18, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The next day, Forest also spoke at the Halftime Show, a special event that brought together musical guests and speakers to inspire audiences to push for action to help humanity achieve our SDGs in the second half.<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cThe SDGs are the most effective blueprint we have to ensure universal access to the fundamental human rights that will ensure security and prosperity. And as we come together now to commit to the acceleration of the SDGs in the second half, the voice and participation of youth must be ensured.
