June 6, 2024 – <\/b>In the bustling city of Tijuana, Mexico, where a vibrant culture collides with socio-economic challenges, some communities require special attention to achieve robust, long-term resilience, lasting peace, and economic stability. At WPDI, we have made it our mission to position ourselves as a springboard for transformation in these communities. With a steadfast commitment to fostering peace and prosperity, our peacebuilding activities aim to help every resident contribute to the transformation of the fabric of the community, notably through the provision of training programs that equip them with practical skills and knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In April 2024, for the second consecutive year, we organized a \u00ab\u00a0Spring Camp\u00a0\u00bb activity for local children, coinciding with the spring vacation period. This time, our Community Learning Center (CLC) welcomed 26 boys and girls over three days, immersing them in engaging workshops on Robot Programming, 3D Modeling and Printing, and Video Game Programming. Under the guidance of ICT trainers and volunteer robotics teachers, each session lasted three hours, during which the children learned new skills, exploring these innovative technologies in a fun and entertaining way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the participants, David P\u00e9rez, 11, spoke glowingly about the experience: <\/span>\u201cI really liked coming to WPDI as this felt like a spring vacation. I like robots and I liked learning about how to create them and play with them. I hope to be back soon to play and learn some more.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, as the children enjoyed their activities, their parents had the opportunity to learn more about WPDI Tijuana and its upcoming initiatives. They engaged in discussions, asked questions, and gained insights into the positive impact of our programs on the community as a whole. This dual approach, catering to both children and parents, has proved instrumental in promoting holistic community development.\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The Spring Camp showcased the transformative power of sensitizing children to communication and technology. At WPDI, we believe communication is key to progress. By providing access to cutting-edge technologies and expert guidance, we’re not only shaping future skills and competencies but also fostering a sense of empowerment and belonging among Tijuana’s children and youth. As these children\u2019s understanding of technology grows, they will become architects of their own future, contributing to their community’s resilience and prosperity.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a world where technology is ubiquitous, mastering communication is crucial. By investing in children today, we’re ensuring they’re equipped for tomorrow’s digital age. Through continued commitment and collaboration, no community will be left behind in this evolving landscape of opportunity.<\/span><\/p>\n
