José Placido was appointed the CEO of BNP Paribas Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Americas in September 2020. In April 2023, he assumed the additional role of CEO of BNP Paribas USA.
Mr. Placido has over 30 years of financial services experience. Prior to his current roles, he was Global Head of Client Development for BNP Paribas Securities Services and Global Head of the Financial Institutions Coverage (FIC) Group.
Before joining BNP Paribas in 2014, Mr. Placido was CEO of RBC Investor Services (RBC Dexia) from 2006-2013. He held several senior positions during his tenure at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), most notably as Executive Vice-President of RBC Global Services from 2002-2006.
He served as Senior Vice President of RBC Institutional & Investor Services of Royal Bank of Canada from 1999-2002. From 1996 to 1999, he served as Managing Director of RBC Global Investor Services based in London UK.
Mr. Placido began his career in institutional investor services when he joined Royal Trust Corporation of Canada in Montreal in 1988.
He has served as a Director of CLS Group Holdings AG and as chair for the Canadian Capital Markets Association (CCMA).
Education
Mr. Placido is a graduate of Montreal’s McGill University.
