Dear Friends,
I am pleased to share with you WPDI’s Spring 2026 Newsletter, highlighting the people, partnerships, and programs that are helping build more peaceful and resilient communities around the world.
As Executive Director of WPDI, one of the greatest privileges of my role is witnessing the extraordinary leadership, resilience, and innovation emerging from the communities we serve. This edition highlights just a few of the individuals whose determination continues to inspire our work.
You’ll hear from our Country Coordinator for WPDI Uganda, Evelyn, in the first episode of our new podcast series, Global Voices. Shared Humanity, where WPDI Founder and CEO Forest Whitaker sits down with her to discuss her peacebuilding journey, the lessons she has learned throughout her career, and the experiences that continue to shape her work today.
You’ll also learn about Fatoumata Souane, a participant in WPDI France’s Women’s Livelihood Program who is transforming her vision for culturally inspired baby food into a growing business.
Alongside these stories, you’ll find updates on the partnerships powering our work around the world and a look ahead to WPDI’s Rise as One Gala this September in New York City. Held alongside the United Nations General Assembly and in celebration of the International Day of Peace, the event will mark 14 years of investing in local leadership, opportunity, and peace.
Thank you for being part of the WPDI community.
With gratitude,
Caroline Descombris
WPDI Executive Director
