June 3, 2024 – At WPDI, we understand that education is more than about imparting knowledge—it is a catalyst for behavioral change, especially in communities grappling with instability and economic challenges. In the heart of Uganda’s Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, our commitment to fostering lasting peace takes shape through a number of tailored initiatives, including our innovative teacher conflict resolution training program.
By equipping teachers with transformative skills to address conflict and tensions, we are not just enhancing academic outcomes but are also sowing the seeds of harmony and resilience in a community deeply affected by hardship.
In March 2024, a training program took place at the Settlement, focusing 50 teachers from five schools spanning refugee and host communities. This initiative empowered the teachers with conflict transformation skills, fostering peaceful coexistence within schools and communities. Each participant received a certificate of attendance following three days of intensive training at their respective schools.
